This ad appeared in the British Yellow Pages The title is of course already double in itself. But if you turn the picture upside down and cover part of it, you can see a young girl fingering herself. I think this is the most convincing example of a subliminal ad, possibly also a joke. Why else would the picture of a drinking woman be doing on an ad for flooring ?

Actually this is a deformation. The landscape served as cover for the book "The Mysterious Island" from Jules Verne. If you place a cylindrical mirror at the top of the landscape, you can see the face of Verne himself. The novel is a sequel to Verne's famous Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and In Search of the Castaways, though thematically it is vastly different from those books.

The most eye-catching and intriguing is the warped skull in the front of the painting (the gray stripe). A lot has been written about the meaning of this skull, it is said to be a symbol of the mortality of man. You would have to look at it from a very sharp angle on the right to see the skull clearly. A "trompe l'Oeil" (fool the eye) is a painting or drawing so life-like, you would think it's real if you were standing there. John Pugh is an American artist known for creating large trompe-l'oeil. Pugh has been creating his murals since the late 1970s. Wikipedia Him Everything you see inside the surrounding bricks is a mural !

Hes been around the internet for a while.

This is an incredibly well-done mural on Taylor Hall, Chico State University in California. It gave the artist international recognition because it looks so real. The idea was breaking open the wall to show an imagined museum inside. It sure works - you 'd swear there's a huge hole in the wall.

It was founded in London in 1970 but now headquartered in New York. These pics are for club 18-30, which is obviously targeted towards young people. They are pretty straight forward, but still subliminal.

This series of ads won the Grand Prix of 2002 in the Cannes Lions, the first prize for advertisements. They're provoking but at least honest. Most young people travelling with club 18-30 are looking for what you see in this picture.

Going fishing and camping for a few days up at Castaic Lake by Six Flags. Any one ever been there?

Two guys go on a fishing trip. They rent all the equipment - the reels, the rods, the wading suits, the rowboat, the car, and even a cabin in the woods. I mean they spend a fortune! The first day they go fishing, but they don't catch anything. The same thing happens on the second day, and on the third day. It goes on like this until finally, on the last day of their vacation, one of the men catches a fish.
As they're driving home they're really depressed. One guy turns to the other and says, "Do you realise that this one lousy fish we caught cost us fifteen hundred bucks?"
The other guy says, "Wow! Then it's a good thing we didn't catch any more!"

Pinecrest is located in the Sierra Nevadas. Ive caught many fish here.
The Pinecrest Chalet is close to the lake with a myriad of options for accommodations – non-kitchen cabins, mini chalets, town houses and studios. From this location it’s an easy drive to the lake, stores and restaurants.
The MiWuk Village Resort is set up to hold conferences on the premises. They also have jetted hot tubs in some of the rooms, a spa and heated pool. I remember an excellent Prime Rib dinner across the street – but don’t recall the name of the restaurant.

Summer temperatures range from mid 70’s to low 80’s in the daytime and it drops to the 60’s at night. If you’re renting a cabin you may find yourself using the fireplace!

Once the higher mountain passes are closed by snow, there is a short period until the winter sports enthusiasts start arriving to enjoy the cold weather sports. Dodge Ridge Ski area is located nearby. There is an indoor ice skating rink in Long Barn.
Pinecrest is located off of Hwy. 108 about an hour or so above Sonora. Most of the motels in the area are located in or near Sonora but there are some in Twain Harte and Mi-wuk also. There are many cabins to rent everywhere in this region

Pinecrest Lake is in part of the most popular resort area in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. It’s located above Sonora on Hwy. 108.

Boating, water skiing, and swimming are major activities during the summer high season. Thousands of campers and picnickers enjoy the beaches,
cabins, resorts and near by campgrounds.
